Oh yeah, I fuckin' love flying… Final Frontier Games announced it is over. Greater Than Games got shut down too. It's happening, it really is. I myself had to do it twice. Two times in the history of Portal Games I was there, no cash, no perspectives, debts and bank accounts frozen by debt collectors. My dreams collapsed. Moments, days, and weeks that burned in my memory with pain, sadness and depression.  I managed to stand back finally. I managed to get back on my feet, fight back and Portal Games in the end became one of the most recognizable European brands in the board games industry. I wish the same happens to all my industry friends who are in trouble today. I feel you, I've been there, I know the pain and sadness. I wish you the best and hope you will manage to get back. I wish you all the best. Also… How's things at Portal Games? I am fighting, I am doing my best, I've fasten my belts and keep working as hard as we can.  Bohemians was sent to print this week. I lowered the print run to 60% of planned print run so we don't risk bankruptcy with tariffs when games  reach US customs, Age of Galaxy is ready in China. I asked the manufacturer to not ship it to the US yet. We are risking missing Gen con release, but these additional 145% cost added to the whole sprint run is devastating. I have two, maybe three weeks window and then I miss Gen con with the game, Race to Berlin on GameFound started this week. We have 200 backers as for now. For the US players we decided to not collect regular pledge due to uncertainty with final tariffs and asked them to put $1 Pledge in and see how the things develop later. We don't want to leave them behind, but at the same time I am responsible and respectful - I am not going to charge you $40 for a game that may cost you $200 later with crazy tariffs added.  That's it. Hello, hello, This is Ignacy Trzewiczek writing to you from place with 10% tariff put temporary on hold, that is from Poland! :)  Few more slavic, grim and depressing newsletters from me and you'll all unsubscribe. I need to start making up stuff, write some playful stories from the office and tell you that everything is fine. It's really awesome. Last week, while I was doing demos of Bohemians at Leiriacon, Trump announced a 54% tariff on products originating from China. I came from Portugal and spent most of Tuesday recalculating the whole budget for the Race to Berlin campaign. All previous data and numbers gone into trash. We somehow got a plan on how to approach the campaign and the pricing, lowering our margin on the US market, and then, evening our time, Trump changed his mind and put 105% tariff on these products. So on Wednesday in our vlog I said that we are forced to cancel the campaign. We are unable to produce the game with that additional cost. The next day, on Thursday, Trump administration corrected the Trump tweet and announced that it's actually a 125% tariff, as you must add the previous 20% to the new 105%. Orange is a new black, chaos is a new reality.  But worry not. I am a game designer. I deal everyday with controlling and managing randomness in my designs. This is my daytime job. What is the plan? We will start the campaign as planned - on April, 16th.  We will not offer shipping to the US, as this is impossible to do right now.  We focus on our European fans, Canadian fans and fans from other parts of the world.  But here at Portal Games, we don't leave our fans behind. I talk to you, our loyal and awesome fan from the US.  We will have a special $1 Pledge for players from the US. You get access to the Pledge Manager. If things sort out later in the year, you will add Race to Berlin to your pledge and you will get it with all other backers from other parts of the world. If they don't, well it doesn't matter, as this mean, the whole US board game industry collapses anyway… We need your support now. Every board game publisher needs your support.
