Where’s Age of Galaxy? Not Where It Should Be.

Hello, this is Ignacy Trzewiczek from Portal Games...

This is Ignacy Trzewiczek and this is another letter from Poland! How's things here? Pretty shitty to be honest… Let me explain…

What you see above is a beautiful fragment of yet another document we got from the shipping company tonight. It lists the fourth delay in the delivery of Age of Galaxy to the US. The shipment was first planned for July 5th, then bumped to the 7th, then the 9th, and tonight they told us the new ETA is July 13th.

In other words, the game won't make it to Gen Con.

I'm writing this not to whine, not to complain, but because this is the format I have in mind for this newsletter—talking about what's really happening at Portal Games. We've been exhibiting at Gen Con since 2014 and at Essen since 2007, and for the first time ever we won't have a new product at our booth. Tariffs have wrecked the whole US logistics chain. It's brutally hard to plan anything these days.

So, what's next? As soon as I finish this newsletter, I'll reach Chevee and brainstorm a new Gen Con plan. We already printed roll-ups and banners for Age of Galaxy, so there's that, but the real question now is what to demo in Indianapolis. Do we go with Resurgence or AI Space Puzzle? Do we lean on the evergreens and push Neuroshima Hex, or do we shout "SALE!" and hit the show with older titles at killer prices?

We need to figure this shit out, and fast. Damage control mode: ON. The booth is paid for. The hotels are paid for. Our awesome demo team is booked. Every piece is in motion — except Age of Galaxy. That's the only part that isn't moving. It's stuck somewhere out on the ocean.

For those of you who planned to buy Age of Galaxy at Gen Con—and for those who hadn't planned to, but want to help—please visit our website, pre-order the game directly from us, and give us a bit of relief in this mess.

Thank you,

Ignacy

“Dude, What the Hell…” – My Week in Copenhagen 🤯

Hello, this is Ignacy Trzewiczek from Portal Games...

Hello, hello

This is Ignacy Trzewiczek from Portal Games, and it's time for another letter from Poland. I hope you had a great week — I certainly did! Let me tell you all about it.

This week, I was in Copenhagen for the Asmodee Nordic Retailer Day, presenting Bohemians to retailers and media. Since Jasper, the designer of Bohemians, lives in Copenhagen, it was a perfect opportunity to invite him to the event to help promote the game.

And let me tell you — that was a brilliant idea.

Little did I know just how famous and well-known Jasper is in Denmark. My ego took a hit, but my heart was full of joy every time a retailer or journalist approached our booth, completely ignored me, and went straight to Jasper to congratulate him on the game. So many people already knew about Bohemians — many had even played prototype versions before — and most just came over to check out the final copy and tell Jasper how proud they were that the game is launching at Essen.

My facial expression said it all:
 "Dude, what the hell..."

Jasper just shrugged and said something like,
"Yeah, I've done quite a lot of playtesting at local cons."

It was absolutely amazing. If I had known how many people had already heard about the game, how many had played it in different stages, and how much groundwork Jasper had laid over the past two or three years while designing Bohemians, I would have printed an extra 1,000 copies just for Denmark.

So yeah — my week was fantastic. My ego was crushed, nobody wanted to talk to me… but Jasper? He and Bohemians were the stars of the show. And honestly, I couldn't be more optimistic about the game's release in Denmark.

After the show, I took a short break with my family to visit Legoland — and let's just say my credit card is now insisting we print more Bohemians to cover the cost of that trip.

Love you guys. I'm super tired, but super happy.
Talk to you next week,
 Ignacy
